So I’d like to start my blog with a ponder for great mystery. Where do all of one side of the earrings go ? Earrings, they never get lost in pairs. It’s always only one. Gone, never to be seen again. And of course, always your favorite or the expensive ones.
Once, taking off earrings on a flight back from Japan, I left them on the side table (yes, yes, dumb.) After a nap, I find just one left. Given that they were my favorite, I even had the flight attendants look for it. When I told them it was an Hermes (simple silver one, though), three of them came to look and one literally took the seat apart to see if it fell in one of the mechanical gaps. Could not find it. Nada. Gone.
And today I again found only one of a pair of earrings I love but do not wear often, which was always in a jewelry bag. Since I did not wear them for a long time, it could not have been misplaced. Where could it have possibly gone ? Are there earring elves that steal just one away when no one is watching ? Is there an earring heaven that they go to ?
It’s the greatest mystery to me.
Julia, I think the obvious solution to the chronic problem of solitary earring loss, it to start wearing mismatched pairs of your remaining solitary favorites! I believe you could start a whole new fashion trend.
